Pauri Garhwal

Pauri District is a district in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is located in the western part of the state and is known for its its picturesque landscape, natural beauty, and scenic views. The district is home to several popular tourist destinations, including Khirsu, Auli, and Chaukhamba. it is also known for its rich cultural heritage and is home to several ancient temples and shrines. Pauri district is surrounded by the districts of Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, and Almora. history of Pauri Garhwal can be traced back to ancient times. The region was known as Kedar Khand in ancient Hindu texts and was considered a sacred place by the followers of Lord Shiva. It was also an important center of Buddhism during the 6th century AD. and was ruled by various dynasties throughout history, including the Chand dynasty and the Katyuri dynasty. British East India Company annexed the region in 1816 and it became part of the British Raj.

During the Indian Independence Movement, Pauri Garhwal played an important role. The region was home to many freedom fighters who fought against British colonial rule.  After India’s independence in 1947, Pauri Garhwal became part of the newly formed state of Uttar Pradesh. However, in 2000, the state of Uttarakhand was formed and Pauri Garhwal became one of its districts.

In terms of tourism, Pauri Garhwal is known for its beautiful natural landscapes, temples, and rich cultural heritage.
